Focusing the Church

As a church, we are continuing to seek what the Spirit of God is saying to us as we turn our attention to discovering God’s vision for the future ministry of Vista Church. Focusing the Church is a discernment process organized around three church-wide Summits that ask three questions, “Where have we been?” “Where are we going?” and “How will we get there?”

Vista’s Focusing the Church Leadership Team will help guide us through the interactive Summits as we pray, listen, and share what we sense God saying to the Church. Following each Summit, the Team will synthesize the information coming out of the Summit and then share that with the congregation.

The Summits are open to every member and attender of Vista Church who is interested in being a part of what God desires to do through the future ministry of the church.

See below for a description of each Summit and how to register. Childcare is available for each, but you must register your child.

  • SUMMIT #1 WHERE HAVE WE BEEN?

    Friday, November 15th
    Saturday, November 16th

    ASSESS – “Where have we been?”

    If an organization is going to change it must first come to terms with its own current reality. Summit #1 focuses on the construction of a Church Journey Wall that reflects the church’s unique spiritual journey, turning points, lessons learned and current values. The Summit concludes with a time of reflection and prayer dedicating the church as well as this process to Jesus.

    Friday, November 15th will begin with a light dinner at 5:45pm. Childcare check-in will begin at 6:15pm.

    Saturday, November 16th will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:30am. Childcare check-in will begin at 8:45am.

  • SUMMIT #2: WHERE ARE WE GOING?

    CLARIFY – “Where are we going?”

    The church leadership will gain clarity on its primary and supporting mission focus groups. Then using a visioning exercise, the group will seek to clarify what the church’s impact will look like (vision) as it reaches those God is calling them to reach. The shift from vision to strategy is made as the church begins the process of discovering the strategic values the church must engage if the vision is going to be accomplished.

    Friday, January 10th will begin with a light dinner at 5:45pm. Childcare check-in will begin at 6:15pm.

    Saturday, January 11th will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:30am. Childcare check-in will begin at 8:45am.

  • SUMMIT #3: HOW WILL WE GET THERE?

    Saturday, February 8th

    ALIGN – “How will we get there?”

    Summit 3 moves the church toward implementation of its vision by conceptualizing a Disciple-Making Pathway which the church will follow as it seeks to make and multiply disciples.

    The summit will begin at 8:30am with a continental breakfast. Childcare check-in will begin at 8:45am.
